We’re excited to announce the release of Paraglider v0.1.0, an LF Networking project that simplifies the creation and management of single-cloud and multi-cloud networks. 

Originating from research at UC Berkeley’s NetSys Lab and now developed by contributors from Microsoft, Google, IBM, and others, Paraglider introduces a unified cross-cloud control plane that abstracts the complexity of configuring the network constructs and access policies needed to enable connectivity within and across clouds. With version 0.1.0, users can define connectivity using high-level, semantically meaningful constructs without needing deep networking expertise, making it easier than ever to connect VMs, containers, and PaaS resources across diverse environments.

What’s New in v0.1.0?

This release builds on the Paraglider seed code – which provided a streamlined interface to multicloud networking between virtual machines – with new features to support more resources and scenarios including:

  • Create Kubernetes clusters and private service endpoints
  • More multicloud connection support
  • Attach existing resources to deployments
  • Bug fixes from community feedback

What’s Next?

With the fundamentals in place for many resource types, the Paraglider community is now focusing on:

  • Supporting brownfield deployment scenarios
  • Expanding compatibility with additional cloud providers
  • Integrating network functions and appliances
  • Building tools for deployment validation and testing

These efforts will further strengthen Paraglider’s utility in real-world cloud and edge networking environments.
