Duranta OAI UE and OCUDU RAN Interoperability and ISAC Operation

“Duranta OAI UE and OCUDU RAN Interoperability and ISAC Operation” brought together the Duranta OpenAirInterface (OAI) UE and the OCUDU open source RAN to demonstrate end-to-end interoperability, from local deployment to an over-the-air connection, while also examining ongoing Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) development.

The session opened with an introduction to the LF Networking Duranta project from the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance, followed by an introduction to the OCUDU Technical Project. Robert Schmidt, Ph.D., RAN Team Lead at the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance and Duranta Maintainer, and Matt Pennybacker, Ph.D., AI-RAN Technical Lead at DeepSig, Inc. and OCUDU Technical Lead, then walked through the integration work completed so far, including how to deploy the RAN and UE locally and connect the two over the air.

The session also covered ongoing ISAC work and next steps toward bringing sensing capabilities into the open source stack.
